Woman found strangled in her Putney home
A murder inquiry has been launched after a woman was found strangled in her home in south-west London.
Anna Maria Thomas, 61, was pronounced dead by paramedics at her flat in Putney on Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police said.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of her murder and sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
A Met spokesman said the arrested man lived at the same address as Ms Thomas but they were not related.
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of her death as compression of the neck.
Officers are requesting people who knew the victim to contact them.
