Brothers sentenced for sex attack on 13-year-old girl

Two brothers convicted of a sex attack on a 13-year-old girl have been given community order sentences.

Ex-Met Police staff worker Mohammad Imran Shabbir, 34, of Barnet, north London, received a two-year order and must perform 100 hours unpaid work.

Muhammad Farhan Shabbir, 25, also of Barnet, was given a two-year order and told to do 80 hours of unpaid work.

Last month each of them were found guilty of one count of sexual assault on the girl in north-west London.

Imran Shabbir was found guilty of attacking the girl in May 2011 while Farhan Shabbir was found guilty of a sexual assault carried out between January and March 2011.

'Great courage'

They were sentenced at Harrow Crown Court.

The brothers were also issued with an order preventing each of them from contacting the victim.

Their names will be on the sex offenders' list for five years.

The abuse came to light after the victim told a teacher at her school.

Det Con Luke Williams, from the Met's Child Abuse Investigation Command, said: "The vulnerable young victim in this case showed great courage in coming forward."

Both men were acquitted of another sexual assault on the same girl.
