Two pedestrians killed in Romford bus collision

Two pedestrians have died after being struck by a bus in east London.

The victims, both men believed to be aged in their 60s, were hit by the vehicle on Western Road in Romford, near the Liberty Shopping Centre.

The Metropolitan Police were called to the incident at 14:20 GMT, but the pair were pronounced dead at the scene.

The bus stopped at the site and the driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.

Officers are appealing people who may have witnessed the incident, including passengers on the bus involved, to come forward with information.
