Ealing deaths: Woman strangled, man found hanged

A couple in their 60s were found dead after relatives raised concerns they had failed to contact them over Christmas.

The pair, believed to be Judith Brierley, 67, and Kim Matthews, 62, were found at their home in Rowan Close, Ealing, west London, on Friday.

Officers sent to the property found a man hanged while a woman, who had been strangled, was discovered upstairs.

Police said no-one else was thought to have been involved.

Tests gave the cause of death for the woman as ligature compression of the neck. Her death is being treated as murder.

The man's death is not believed to be suspicious and a post-mortem examination is due to be held on Thursday.

According to police, Mr Matthews and Ms Brierley were long-term partners who lived together at the address. They had no children.
