Missing Lithuanian carpenter found 'with head injuries'

A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a missing Lithuanian man was found in a stream with "severe head injuries".

Evaldas Svolkinas, 34, a carpenter from Dorking Rise, Romford, was last seen at 06:15 GMT on Thursday.

He did not go to work and was reported missing to police the following day.

Police were called to Wincanton Road in Romford at 10:25 on Sunday after a body was found in nearby Carter's Brook stream.

The man was identified as Mr Svolkinas and a post-mortem examination on Monday found he died from severe head injuries, Scotland Yard said.

Det Chf Insp Chris Jones said: "We are anxious to trace the victim's movements between Thursday morning and when he was found on Sunday.

"Did you see him? Do you have any information? If so, please come forward."
