City of London Poppy Day: Fundraisers target £1m

Londoners were urged to help raise £1m in one day for the City of London Poppy Day on Thursday.

Hundreds of collectors were at 60 Tube and railway stations and there were performances all over the capital to encourage donations.

Events included the Military Wives Choir at St Paul's Cathedral and the Prince of Wales greeted collectors at Clarence House.

A final push to reach the £1m mark happened at Covent Garden.

The amount raised was due to be announced on Friday morning.
