Bermondsey residents' anger at statue theft


Bermondsey residents have been left angry at the theft of a memorial statue to a former local doctor and MP who championed free healthcare.

In the early 1900s, Dr Alfred Salter provided medical care to those who could not afford it and, such was his devotion to the people of the area, a memorial statue was erected in his honour 20 years ago.
