Four arrests after human remains found in Eltham garden

Four people have been questioned on suspicion of murder after human remains were found in the garden of a house in south-east London.

The discovery was made on Sunday morning by officers searching the property in Lynsted Gardens, Eltham.

Three women and one man were arrested in connection with the investigation. One woman has since been bailed.

The Metropolitan Police (Met) said excavation work at the address was likely to last a number of days.

A police statement said officers were carrying out inquiries in the area.

Three women, one aged in her 60s and two in their 40s, and a man in his 40s were arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

One of the women, aged in her 40s, has been released on police bail while inquiries continue. The others remain in custody.
