Deptford fire: Idonia Street flat damaged by blaze

A residential tower block in south-east London was evacuated after a fire broke out in a fourth-floor flat.

About 50 people left the building in Idonia Street, close to the main railway station in Deptford, after the blaze which began about 15:35 BST.

Nobody was hurt but the flat was damaged, London Fire Brigade said.

It took 30 firefighters an hour to bring the fire under control after 15 emergency 999 calls were received, the brigade said.
