Labour policy review on Heathrow Airport expansion

Anti-expansion campaigners are claiming a significant victory after the Labour Party said it was reviewing its policy on a third runway at Heathrow Airport.

Labour had previously been in favour of the third runway, while the coalition government has ruled out the building of a third runway in the current parliament.

The business community insists that Heathrow must expand for it to remain competitive with other hub airports.

Anti-expansion campaigners said Labour's policy review indicated that political support for a larger Heathrow was now fading.
