A man has been charged with making a bomb hoax which led to a stand-off with police at a shop in London's West End.

Armed officers surrounded the Accessiorize store on Regent Street for five hours on Thursday morning after an alarm in the store was activated.

A man had barricaded himself inside the shop and threatened to blow himself up.

Malcolm Tripp, 46, is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court later, where he will also face a charge of criminal damage.
