Two men charged with Buckingham Palace trespassing

Two men have been charged with trespass after allegedly trying to get into Buckingham Palace.

The incident took place at the staff entrance to the palace, on Buckingham Palace Road in central London, at about 0815 GMT on Wednesday.

Laurence Flanders, 20, of Ridgemont Road, Stroud, and Matthew Bellis, 20, of Brendon Close, Harlington, Hayes, were charged with trespassing.

They were due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Buckingham Palace is one of 16 sites designated under law as "protected".
