Three arrests after fatal stabbing outside Lewisham pub

Three people are in custody after a man was stabbed to death outside a pub in south London late on Saturday.

Police said the victim, a man in his 50s, was involved in an altercation outside the Downham Tavern in Downham Way, Lewisham, just before midnight.

A man in his late 20s was also seriously injured and is being treated at a south London hospital.

Police said they believed they knew the victim's name and it would be released after next of kin had been notified.

A post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death was being held later on Sunday.

The three arrested - two men and a woman - were being held in separate police stations, police said, adding that they did not think the murder was gang-related.
