Five lorry drivers have been injured in a crash involving four military trucks and an HGV.

The collision happened at about 12:00 BST on the A17 Station Road at Swineshead Bridge near Boston.

Three men were airlifted to hospital with "serious injuries" while a woman and another man were taken by ambulance, Lincolnshire Police said.

The force said the military vehicles were being transported by civilians and not military personnel.

Lisa Padley, who works at a car dealership just yards from the crash, said four army vehicles and a lorry were involved in a "massive collision".

A police spokesman said the A17 had been closed at the Bicker Bar roundabout and at the junction with the Boardsides turn-off.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service said there were 32 firefighters at the scene.

The BBC has asked the Army to comment.
