A man has appeared at crown court for the first time charged with murdering his nine-year-old grandson.

Stewart Greene was charged on Christmas Eve, following the death of his grandson Alex Robinson on 23 December.

The boy was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, after emergency services were called to a terraced house in Pennell Street in Lincoln.

His 64-year-old grandfather appeared at Lincoln Crown Court and was remanded into custody.

Mr Greene, of Danes Court, Grimoldby, will appear at the same court for a plea and case management hearing on 24 April.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out on the boy, but police have not said what his cause of death was.
