Parts of a holiday park affected by a large fire will remain closed until the new year, it has been confirmed.

Eight fire crews were called to the leisure complex at Southview Leisure Park in Skegness, Lincolnshire, early on Thursday afternoon. No one was hurt.

Owners said the bar, restaurant and swimming pool would be shut until January but alternatives were being offered and the park remained open.

A preliminary investigation into the cause should be completed on Friday.

Park Resorts - which operates the site - said they would refund holiday makers the costs of using alternative local swimming facilities and an area within the hotel would become an alternative restaurant and bar.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service Divisional Commander, Tim Joyce, said: "There is a fire investigator on site at the moment but due to the amount of damage they have to work slowly.

"There are different areas to look at and they have to keep themselves safe but we are expected the preliminary investigation to finish by the end of today."
