Labour selects Louth and Horncastle Labour candidate

Sir Peter Tapsell

The Labour candidate chosen to contest a Lincolnshire seat at the 2015 General Election says he is determined to fight a positive campaign.

Matthew Brown was selected to represent Louth and Horncastle on Tuesday after Victoria Atkins was chosen as the Conservative candidate.

Whoever wins the seat will replace "Father of the House", Conservative MP Sir Peter Tapsell.

Mr Brown is currently a councillor in neighbouring North East Lincolnshire.

"I know this campaign is going to be a challenge," he said. "I look forward to the months ahead."

Sir Peter has served continuously as an MP since 1966 - longer than any other member of Parliament.

The General Election will take place on Thursday 7 May 2015.
