Bifrangi invests £50m in Lincoln forge plant

An Italian engineering company aims to create 100 jobs at its Lincoln factory with a £50m upgrade of its facilities.

Bifrangi UK, which supplies parts to the power generation industry, will install one of the world's largest screw presses at its Monks Road site.

The installation of the 70-tonne screw press will allow the firm to expand its production of engine crankshafts.

The family-run firm, which has 180 staff, will also expand its links with the University of Lincoln.

'Fantastic news'

A City of Lincoln Council spokesman said the investment would bring "high value employment" to the city.

"This initiative will create opportunities for students within the engineering sector and provide a mutual link to the benefits of university research," a Bifrangi spokesman said.

Lincoln city councillor Ric Metcalfe said: "This is fantastic news for the city.

"Bifrangi is an excellent company that will bring some more high-value, high-skill employment to the city and a much-needed boost to the local economy."

Company director Giuseppe Saretta said: "Meetings this year with the officials from the council have made Bifrangi confident in the success of this project."
