A teenager who posed as Katie Price in order to withdraw money from the former glamour model's bank account has been given a community sentence.

Kerry Marshall, who plans to undergo gender re-assignment surgery, took £2,500 from a branch of HSBC, Lincoln Crown Court was told.

The 18-year-old, formerly known as Tyler Meadows, used security details stolen from Ms Price.

She was given two years' supervision and an infinite restraining order.

Marshall, of Eastgate, Sleaford, admitted five charges of fraud by false representation at an earlier hearing.

It has not been established how the bank security details were obtained but Marshall was arrested last February at Ms Price's Sussex home, the court was told.

A spokesman for HSBC confirmed she had withdrawn the money by going into a Lincolnshire branch and lying about her identity.

He said: "The customer concerned has not lost any money at all.

"If anyone is an innocent victim of fraud the money is always protected."

The cash was taken out during two visits to the branch in September and October 2011.

Marshall also used Ms Price's financial details to buy a £9,000 Mazda MX5 sports car and a £600 Pandora bracelet, the court heard.

A representative for Katie Price said she would not be commenting on the case at this time.
