Late night shopping in Lincoln will continue

A business group in Lincoln says it will continue with its late night shopping programme, despite dozens of shops pulling out of the scheme.

Lincoln's Business Improvement Group (BIG) said 40 of the original 100 shops had left the scheme which was set up in July 2011.

Michael Armstrong from BIG said the late night shopping scheme was still in its infancy but ought to pick up.

He added as the weather improved, more people would be out and about.

"If you look back at history, this is how Sunday trading started out," said Mr Armstrong.

"It is early days and it is a slow burner but as the lighter nights come in, things will pick up again," he added.

The late night shopping scheme means 60 shops in Lincoln City Centre are open until 19:00 every Thursday.
