Lincolnshire death crash driver is jailed
A motorist has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for causing the death of a woman on a moped in a crash in Lincolnshire.
Valentina Planciunene, 37, died after being hit by a car driven by Intars Pless near Wyberton Fen in February.
Pless, of Hilda Street, Boston, was twice over the drink-drive limit at the time of the crash.
The 34-year-old has a previous conviction for murdering a companion with an axe in his native Latvia.
Ms Planciunene, 37, of Boston, died when Pless knocked her moped into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
The trial at Lincoln Crown Court heard Pless drove away from the scene immediately after the crash.
The jury found Pless guilty of causing death by dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
Sentencing him, the judge said he hoped Pless would be deported at the end of his sentence.
