English Heritage has welcomed plans to renovate the largest building on its industrial heritage at risk register.

The former Bass Maltings in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, which was damaged by a large fire in 1976, could be turned into shops, office space and more than 220 apartments and houses.

Dr Anthony Streeten, regional director for English Heritage in the East Midlands, said: "It is a fantastic building."
