Two people have been seriously hurt in a road crash which caused disruption in Lincoln city centre.

A Volkswagen Golf crashed into lamp-posts and a wall on the A15 Lindum Hill, close to the Usher Gallery, in the early hours of the morning.

Police said a third uninjured person was found in the car but other passengers may have left the scene.

The two injured men, aged 31 and 20, are in a stable condition. The road was reopened before 1000 BST.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Police said because of the way the vehicle crashed they had to close the entire road to investigate.

Diversions were put in place but long tailbacks were reported.
