Alarm councillors in Hagworthingham given cautions

Two parish councillors from Lincolnshire who were accused of disabling a faulty burglar alarm in a village have been cautioned by police.

Edmund Done, 67, and Michael Curtis, 73, both from Hagworthingham, had denied criminal damage.

The two men had claimed they silenced the alarm because it kept going off.

Their trial was due to begin before Skegness magistrates, but last week they attended Horncastle police station and accepted a caution.

The case has now been formally discontinued in the courts.

The men claimed the alarm, at a cottage, had sounded for 20 minutes every two hours day and night for two months.
