Lincolnshire Police warning over scrap metal thefts

Police in Lincolnshire are warning people to either sell their scrap metal or keep it out of sight after a rise in thefts in the county.

The recent advice comes after two incidents where batteries were stolen from lorries parked on Bridge End Road in Grantham between 1 and 6 January.

Insp Nigel Storey from Lincolnshire Police said the force had seen a recent rise "in these type of incidents".

Anyone with information about the thefts should contact police.

Insp Storey added: "I would appeal to the public to keep an eye open for an suspicious activity and let us know immediately if they spot anything unusual such as flatbed lorries parked at unusual times or in unusual places.

"The best advice is to keep your scrap metal out of sight so you benefit from its value and not anyone else."
