Lincolnshire police hunt doorstep knifeman

Police in Lincolnshire are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man answered his door to a man carrying a knife.

Two men rang the doorbell at the house in Wygate Road, Spalding, just before 2130 GMT on Sunday.

After opening the door and seeing one of the men holding a knife, the householder fell to the floor and managed to kick the door shut.

The two men, who were both wearing dark hooded tops, then ran off.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: "Fortunately the victim was not seriously injured, but this was clearly a very frightening experience for him. We are urging anyone with information to come forward."
