A reported attempted robbery which led to the closure of several roads in Lincoln was in fact a domestic incident, police have said.
Officers were called to The Avenue area of the city in the early hours after a man suffered a stab wound.
After examining the scene, officers found no evidence of a robbery and said the 23-year-old had injured himself.
The man was taken to Lincoln County Hospital, where he is being treated for his wound.
A spokesman for the Lincolnshire force said: "A considerable amount of police time and resources have been spent dealing with this report and members of the public have been inconvenienced by the resulting road closures.
"Lincolnshire Police will be looking at the most proportionate way of dealing with those involved."
