Man jailed for life for fatal bar stabbing in Lincoln
A 26-year-old man who admitted fatally stabbing a father-of-three in a Lincoln bar has been jailed for life.
Stuart Whitelaw, of Elder Street, Lincoln, was attacked in the Mezz Bar in Ruston Way, on 3 May.
He was taken to Lincoln County Hospital following a 999 call but died of his injuries shortly afterwards, Lincoln Crown Court heard previously.
Joe Palmer, of Allenby Close, Lincoln, was told he would have to serve at least 21 years in prison.
After the sentencing, Det Chief Insp Shaun West of Lincoln CID said: "I hope that the conclusion of proceedings will be the first step along the way for some kind of closure for the family and that to some extent, they can start to look towards the future.
"We would like to thank the two nurses who attempted to help Stuart at the scene, the witnesses who gave evidence despite fear of reprisals, and the wider public."
