Security warning to horse owners in Lincolnshire

Horse owners in Lincolnshire have been warned to be on their guard against thieves.

Police said offenders may be marking specific animals as targets by plaiting their manes.

They think an accomplice will then return at a later date and steal the horse either in daylight, or in the dark by feeling for the plait.

They have urged horse owners to make sure they freeze-mark, brand or micro-chip their animals.
