Two dead after motorcycle accident in Lincolnshire

Two men have died and two others have been injured in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car.

The collision happened at 2040 BST on Sunday on the A52 on Somerby Hill in Grantham, Lincolnshire.

The 43-year-old motorcyclist and his 31-year-old passenger, both from Grantham, died at the scene.

The crash involved a Honda motorcycle and a Fiat Punto. A Volkswagen Polo then collided with the two other vehicles.

Spinal injuries

The driver and front seat passenger from the Punto - a 28-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, both from Surrey - were taken to Lincoln County Hospital for neck and possible spinal injuries, which were not life threatening.

The three other occupants of the Punto and the three in the Polo, who were from London, were not injured.

The A52 at Somerby Hill was expected to be closed until noon on Monday.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

The accident brings the number of people killed on Lincolnshire's roads in 2010 to 25, including six motorcyclists, compared with 34 at the same time last year.
