Leicester pavement hit and run suspect released

A man arrested after a car mounted a pavement and hit a number of pedestrians has been released on bail.

The vehicle drove through a bus stop queue on Humberstone Gate, Leicester, shortly before 17:00 GMT on Tuesday, with one person carried on the bonnet.

Three men and a woman who required hospital treatment have since been discharged.

Following the release of the 21-year-old suspect, police renewed their appeal for information about the crash.

A short time afterwards a black Hyundai was found abandoned in nearby Bishop Street and two men were spotted fleeing the scene.
