A murder investigation has been launched after two residents at a care home died.

The two people died on 2 and 3 of August at Springwater Care Home in Calverton near Nottingham.

Two women who work at the home were arrested and suspended from duty and have since been released without charge.

The home said it had brought in extra staff to continue caring for its residents.

Nottinghamshire Police said results from a post-mortem examination were expected next week and they continue to investigate.

A spokesman for the home said: "We are deeply shocked and distressed by these allegations.

"We are working very closely with the police while they seek to establish whether a murder took place, and we will do everything we can to support their investigation."
