Leicester Belgrave 'ride-by' gold chain theft warning

People living in Leicester's so-called Golden Mile have been been urged to leave their gold necklaces at home after a rise in thefts.

Since May, six people have had chains snatched in "ride-by" cycle attacks in the Belgrave Road area.

Leicestershire Police said the necklaces were "quickly snatched" by "local opportunists" on their bikes.

A number of arrests have been made. Police said the offenders were mainly white men wearing either hoods or hats.
