Leicester family house fire deaths: Seven arrested

Seven people have been arrested in connection with a house fire in Leicester that killed four people.

Shehnila Taufiq, who was in her 40s, her sons Jamal, 15, and Bilal, 17, and daughter Zainab, 19, died in the fire in Wood Hill on 13 September.

Leicestershire Police said it executed warrants at houses in the Leicester area on Wednesday morning.

Two youths aged 16 and 18 and two 19-year-olds were held, plus three men aged 20, 21 and 24.

They all remain in police custody while inquiries continue.

Kemo Porter, 18, of Browning Street, Leicester, has been charged with four counts of murder and is due to appear at Leicester Crown Court at a later date.

Det Supt Kate Meynell encouraged anyone with information, who has not already spoken to police, to come forward.
