New York taxi crash victim Sian Green 'improving'
A Leicester woman who lost part of her left leg when she was hit by a New York taxi is making progress in hospital.
Sian Green, 24, received injuries to both legs when one of the city's famous yellow cabs mounted the kerb last week.
Doctors at Bellevue Hospital, where her condition has been upgraded to "fair", believe she will regain the use of her right leg.
The taxi driver involved, who has not been arrested, blamed a cyclist for making him swerve.
Ms Green had her left leg amputated below the knee after the accident on 20 August, near the Rockefeller Centre on Sixth Avenue, in midtown Manhattan.
Doctors said Ms Green was "fortunate" not to have suffered more serious injury.
