Human bones found at dig by Leicester school students

Students have unexpectedly found human remains at an archaeological dig at an Iron Age hill fort.

The pupils, from Riverside Community College in Leicester, have been helping to uncover the history of Burrough Hill in Leicestershire.

Dr Jeremy Taylor, from The University of Leicester, said the dig was part of a five-year project which began last year.

Teacher Allan Dunsmore hopes the experience has got the teenagers thinking about going to university.

Researchers have so far uncovered a big roundhouse and an Iron Age road in two large trenches at the hill fort.
