Third arrest over Barlestone fatal road collision

Police have arrested a third man after two women were killed in a collision on a Leicestershire road.

The accident happened on the B585 Garlands Lane in Barlestone, just before 2000 GMT on Thursday.

The crash involved a Fiat Scudo van, Renault Twingo, Ford Focus and Toyota Rav 4.

The driver of the Renault, Jade Srawley, 20, died at the scene. Passenger Amelia Ecob, also 20, was taken to hospital where she later died.

Driver trace

Police arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the incident. It follows the earlier arrests of two men, aged 36 and 39.

All three have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Officers are still trying to identify and trace the driver of the Fiat who left the scene.

Det Con Rob Lapworth of Leicestershire Police said: "We are still appealing to anyone who was in the area of the B585 in Barlestone and witnessed the collision, or saw the vehicles beforehand, to contact us.

"We are also keen to trace the driver of the Fiat who left the scene before police arrived leaving the vehicle behind, we would urge that person or anyone who knows their identity to contact the police immediately.

"Any calls received will be treated in confidence."
