Man is charged over Leicester mosque attack

A 30-year-old has been charged with religiously-aggravated criminal damage to a Leicester mosque on the 9/11 anniversary.

The local man is also accused of a racially-aggravated assault on a man at the premises, and theft.

Police said he was charged after setting off a fire extinguisher inside the mosque on Churchill Street, Highfields, on 11 September 2010.

He is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on 11 February.
