Graffiti taggers hit part of Leicester

Police in Leicester are trying to find out who is responsible for a spate of graffiti in an area of the city.

In the past two weeks, nine graffiti "tags" have appeared on phone boxes, walls and street furniture in the Abbey Ward area of Leicester.

Community payback workers have already started cleaning up the graffiti, officers said.

Anyone who has any information about the graffiti is advised to contact Leicestershire Police.

Police Community Support Officer Clare Bradley from Leicestershire Police said: "Graffiti of this nature is criminal damage and this is a crime.

"If you're found undertaking acts such as this then we can take action against you which means a criminal record. People need to be mindful of this before they start spraying messages on walls," she said.
