Fire crews rescue puppy from New Parks flat

Fire investigators in Leicestershire believe a fire at a first floor flat was started deliberately.

Fire crews were called to Aikman Close in the New Parks area of Leicester at about 0400 GMT on Monday.

No one was injured in the fire but firefighters rescued a puppy from the flat, a Leicestershire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said.

Investigations are still ongoing but officers believe the fire was started in a bin compound near the flat.
