Police warning after burglaries in Leicestershire

Police in part of Leicestershire are warning residents to keep their properties secure after a spate of burglaries.

Since 22 August, 21 properties in Charnwood have been burgled, 19 of these in Birstall.

Det Sgt Shael Marshall from Leicestershire Police said there were simple steps residents could take to deter burglars.

These include keeping valuables out of site and locking all doors and windows.

"Officers are fully aware of the current spate of burglaries and are working hard to find those responsible," said Det Sgt Marshall.

"But there are some precautions that can be taken by members of the public to also help a burglary from happening."

He added if anyone had any information about the burglaries they should contact police.
