Man hurt in glider quarry crash in Husbands Bosworth

A man has been injured in a glider crash near to a Leicestershire quarry.

The aircraft came down in a field near Lafarge Aggregates on Welford Road in Husbands Bosworth just after 1400 BST, reportedly after hitting a tree.

Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance said it airlifted a 50-year-old man, originally from Devon, to University Hospital in Coventry.

He suffered a fractured foot and internal injuries but it was not known exactly how serious the injuries were.

Officers from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch have been at the scene.
