Harehills arson: Attempted murder accused appears in court


A man charged with trying to murder a woman and her two children in an arson attack in Leeds has appeared in court.

A mother, her five-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter were rescued from the attic of the house in Hill Top Mount, Harehills, during a fire on 24 January.

Anthony Walters of Beckett Road, Wheatley Park, Doncaster, was remanded in custody by magistrates in Leeds.

Mr Walters, 33, who faces three counts of attempted murder, is next due at Leeds Crown Court on 5 March.
