Crossgates Leeds Building Society robbery CCTV released

A CCTV image of an armed robber threatening building society staff at gunpoint has been released by police.

The man was one of two masked raiders who burst in to the Leeds Building Society, in Station Road, Crossgates, Leeds, at about 12.50 GMT on Wednesday.

The pair threatened staff and customers before escaping with a quantity of cash, West Yorkshire Police said.

The force has also released an image of the getaway car used in the robbery. No-one was injured during the raid.

Det Insp Phil Jackson said: "The CCTV image of the man with the gun clearly illustrates how frightening this incident was for the staff and customers involved."

The men, who fled the scene in a silver or grey, five-door Vauxhall Corsa, are described as being 5ft 7ins (170cm) and 5ft 11ins (180cm) tall and wearing grey hooded tops and jogging bottoms.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the robbery to come forward.
