Leeds Central library gets 300,000 music scores

A "vast and prestigious collection" of 300,000 music scores has a new home in Leeds.

Leeds City Council said The Yorkshire Music Library would be housed in the city's Central Library.

The collection covers choral works by 16th Century composers to Beatles songs arranged for a string quartet.

Councillor Debra Coupar, of Leeds City Council, said it was "fantastic" the "vast and prestigious collection" was coming to Leeds.

There were fears the collection could be lost after Fresh Horizons, a social enterprise in Huddersfield, ceased operations in March.
