Boy killed in Bradford tipper truck crash

A boy has died after being hit by a tipper truck in Bradford.

The incident happened at 13:10 GMT on Valley Road, Shipley, after the child "emerged in to the road between parked vehicles", West Yorkshire Police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said they were investigating the crash and could not confirm the victim's age at this stage.

A number of roads have been closed around Valley Road, Frizinghall Road and surrounding routes.

Sgt Ann Drury said: "Clearly, the scale and severity of this incident has caused significant disruption to commuters and the communities in Bradford.

"I continue to thank people for their patience and understanding whilst we continue to conduct our investigation."

The force said it would not release any further details until all family members were notified.

Sgt Drury appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
