Arrest over Middleton police officer 'hit-and-run'

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder a police officer who was injured in a suspected hit-and-run.

The officer was driven at deliberately near the Omnibus pub, in Sharp Lane, Middleton, on Friday, West Yorkshire Police said.

A 32-year-old from Leeds was arrested in Dover in connection with the crash.

The officer was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries but has since been discharged.

Three men, aged 19, 20 and 33, and two women aged 34 and 17 who were arrested on Sunday on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
