Detectives investigating the discovery of a body in Leeds have identified the victim and arrested a third man on suspicion of murder.

Michael Ayres, 60, of Headingley, was found in Hyde Park Terrace at about 19:00 GMT on Saturday.

His body was discovered by fire crews who had been called to reports of a bin fire.

Two men aged 37 and 50 were taken into custody on Saturday. A third, aged 61, was arrested on Sunday.

All three are currently being questioned.

Det Supt Simon Atkinson, of West Yorkshire Police, said there was no threat to the wider community and the people involved were known to each other.

"We are still keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the vicinity of St Augustine's Wrangthorn church hall in the period leading up to when Mr Ayres' body was found," he said.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw three men pulling a wheelie bin along Hyde Park Terrace at about tea time on Saturday."
