Pedestrian dies after car crash in Leeds

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Leeds.

The 23-year-old woman was hit by a Vauxhall Astra as she crossed Kirkstall Road at 11:50 BST.

She was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards. The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man, was not seriously injured in the collision.

West Yorkshire Police said Kirkstall Road remained closed in both directions to enable investigations into the cause of the crash to take place.
