Dwain Barker in court over Pontefract attack


Update March 2017: At Leeds Crown Court in July 2014, Dwain Barker was convicted of robbery and actual bodily harm but found not guilty of sexual assault. He was later sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison.

A man has appeared at Wakefield Magistrates' Court in connection with an alleged attack in Pontefract.

Dwain Barker, 28, of no fixed address, was charged with grievous bodily harm and sexual assault.

A 44-year-old woman said she was hit and dragged to the floor before being subjected to an attack in Queen Street on 19 February.

Mr Barker was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 11 March.

West Yorkshire Police said the woman was treated in hospital for head injuries.
